It has been a long time since I last wrote a post for this blog. A few months, in fact. Looking back, that silence probably says more than any carefully written update could have.
So, how is the novel coming along?
Well… it turns out that writing a novel is demanding. Inspiration alone does not make a book.
At first, I thought it was simply procrastination. Maybe it still is, at least partly. But then something interesting happened. While my cozy crime novel was patiently waiting for me, another story appeared almost out of nowhere.
A werewolf saga.
Not just one book, but a trilogy. Old respected families. Honour and duty. Romance. Secrets. An ancient curse. The plot has twists, betrayals, and enough ideas to keep me entertained for quite a while.
Have I written any of it?
No.
Have I written the murder mystery?
Also no.
That made me stop and think.
I realised that somewhere along the way, my original idea had quietly grown into something much bigger than I had intended. I wanted to make books and keep a blog about the process. Somehow that slowly expanded into writing, blogging, creating videos, filming, editing, and trying to be present on several platforms at once.
To be honest, it has occasionally started to feel like a second job.
And that was never the dream.
The good news is that this little pause has helped me figure out what I actually enjoy.
I love writing. I love creating art. I enjoy seeing stories slowly take shape. Those things still excite me.
What I don’t particularly enjoy is filming videos, editing them, and constantly thinking about what should come next on YouTube. I admire people who love that process, but I have finally admitted to myself that it simply isn’t my favourite way to spend my creative time.
So, I think I have found my next step.
The blog stays.
The books stay.
The art stays.
The YouTube channel will become much quieter. I may post there from time to time, but it no longer needs to be at the centre of everything I create.
Perhaps the biggest lesson of the past few months is this: a creative hobby should feel creative. If it starts feeling like another full-time job, it is probably time to simplify.
The murder mystery is still waiting for me.
Apparently, so are the werewolves.
And that’s perfectly all right.
